NAZAR II

“Nazar,” means sight, surveillance, look, or visual attention in ancient Arabic. “Nazar na lage,” is a common phrase in Hindi and Urdu, meaning “may the evil eye not touch you.” The concept of the malefic effects of the Evil Eye originated in Ancient Egypt. In parts of the East it’s common for people to wear an evil eye amulet, have evil eye imagery on their possessions, or in their home, to reflect the evil glare back onto the offender.

Nazar II is finally ready to watch over its forever home. This intricate piece took months to complete. It has multiple layers of resin (each layer takes 3 days to fully cure); each eye was carefully shaped; the perfectly reflective rhinestones (quite difficult to acquire) were glued down by hand, one-by-one; and the flowering metallic pearl white paint took countless layers to get the opacity just right!
